Thanks so much!!!   things to think about, 11.29.2008 Reviewer: Shannon (Monroe, WA) When doing the doll that wets procedure, try to hide how you make the doll wet (you use the left leg). Our son thought it was hilarious and when he sat on the potty for the first time, he tried squeezin his left leg to make himself tinkle. Also, when making Scotty wet his pants, just pour water on the diaper, don't squeeze the leg, it makes too much noise. I read "Toilet Training in Less than a Day" (TTINLTAD) before finding this program and using it. (same concept, shorter book) It's a great concept and has worked great for many parents that I know of. It's day 2 and our son knows what to do but will not initiate on his own. So be mentally prepared, because it's exhausting. Get the next size up of training pants for your child. TTINLTAD says that you want them nearly falling off your child so they are super easy to get off! I didn't follow this advice and I had to cut the elastic multiple times to make them easier (as suggested by TTINLTAD) and he still had a couple accidents because he couldn't get them down in time. I went out and purchase the next size up and it's so much easier (he's 30 pounds in a 4, or large) Also, we are realizing that we are dealing with some behavioral issues with our son in regard to following instruction. TTINLTAD says that if you are dealing with stubborness (obedience) then you should not do this method until your child is able to follow instructions well. I guess we underestimated out son. Here is what TTILTAD said to do: Call him by name, stand close so you can be ready to manually guide him within 2 seconds of a command, point if possible, be brief, use the same words, be detailed at first and then general after understands, be enthusiastic (that's god, yes, that's right - now...yes, you're almost done...now..), and use manual guidance (instead of frustration) which ensures that actions will be carried out (gentle/firm/mild touch of your hands on his guidance through proper motions 1-2 seconds after any instruction not followed immediately, and help him help himself - don't do it for him!). Another suggestion, water down juices so your child is not hyped up on sugar (our son is not used to so much juice and was bouncing off the walls). We used as many non sugary treats as possible. Get away from treats as soon as possible! Also, he got really bored after the doll that wets and having used the toilet for the first time. Have some quiet toys ready to go (books, coloring, a quiet car, doll, etc). We didn't figure this out until later in the day. He was bored which caused other behavioral issues. Stick to it!!! My husband and I wanted to throw in the towel a couple of times, but what other program has your child popping 2 times and urinating 9 on the first day of toilet training! Be consistent, and stay positive (and well rested). You can do it! and so can your child!   Not as great as I had hoped, 11.29.2008 Reviewer: n/a (n/a, n/a) Despite doing what the instructions tell you to do, Scotty leaks when he lays down to drink. He is also very noisy when you squeeze his leg to make him pee. The leaking problem has also made it hard to get the doll to hold enough water to make the pee come out smoothly, as a stream, instead of a noisy squirt. Though I am a fan of the ideas of dolls and books to help kids learn what the potty is for, my son isnt crazy about Scotty and I find my son makes a face when Scotty is sitting on his potty trying to pee. I'm not sure if it is the doll or the noise he makes peeing. If I were you, I'd try to buy one gently used, just incase he doesnt go over well - you've havent spent over $50!   Dolls in various races, 11.28.2008 Reviewer: D. Christian Cornerstone   Thank you for Potty Scotty., 11.28.2008 Reviewer: Cathy Peyton (n/a, n/a) I was very happy to receive our Potty Scotty in the mail :) We are using him as an aid for toilet training our 21 month old boy, Teddy. Though he is a little younger then recommended, we felt that he was showing signs of readiness. I figured if he wanted to take off his diaper and run around the house, there should be a potty seat next to him that he could use! He is doing wonderfully! He does not speak many words, but knows that his pee-pee (and Scotty's) is an "uh-oh" on the floor. He will make it to the potty several times a day, though we are not pushing him or doing intense training at this time. Right now he is still learning when he needs to go. When Teddy first saw Scotty, he immediately fell in love with him! Face it, the doll is adorable! He immediately took off his clothes, and seeing a penis, thought he should put Scotty on the toilet with no coaxing from us. You should have seen his delight when he found out that Scotty could actually "go" ! My only complaint is that at the end of the pee-pee, Scotty kind of makes a funny slushing noise and sprays all over the place. I am not sure if this can be helped due to the nature of the tubing inside that allows him to "hold it". Even though, I would definitely give him two thumbs up and I would gladly recommend this doll! Cathy Peyton   Our son loves Potty Scotty!!, 11.23.2008 Reviewer: Raina Abramson (, ) I recieved the new bottle and it solved the problem of Scotty sitting to go pee pee. The other bottle was half the size and water would come out of his mouth when we fed him so I thought he was full. He is now working perfectly. Kyle loves the doll so much, he takes him for walks in his stroller. Scotty helps him to feel like a real big boy in so many ways. Thanks for the input on night time wetting. I did go to pull ups at night and I didn't make a big issue of them. I called them underwear and reminded him to try and keep them dry. The other night he was dry in the morning and this morning he was wet, but still went potty this morning and we put underwear on right away. I suppose this is what we'll do for a while. I have told all my friends and family about the doll - most of their children are a bit younger and not ready for potty training yet. They were very interested in using the doll when it is time.
