My son is 2 years, 5 months. He has used the potty twice, but has had it in the bathroom (to think about using whenever he wanted to try it) for about 6 months.
It is cute and colorful. My son loved the music "button", which is a totally removable little dot that has stopped working since we got the potty. He also recognized it immediately as a toilet for him, even before age 2. He didn't know what any of the potties without lids were when we were shopping for one!
The base of the potty is narrower than the top, so this can wiggle a little. At age 2, it frightened my son when he sat on it because it wasn't sturdy enough. He practiced, fully clothed, sitting on top of the lid for a while. Now, his balance is much better and he doesn't seem to wiggle the chair at all when he sits on it.
The yellow basin does remove easily for emptying, but it can also be bumped loose by the child. There is no lip holding the basin up, so the bowl can end up slightly below its proper position just under the purple seat. Because it isn't a tight fit, I suppose urine could slop through the gap between seat and basin if someone's aim is off. However, when the basin bumps loose, it only shifts down slightly to rest on the floor. It seems unlikely that a real spill would occur while the basin is in the potty.
The splash guard is part of the seat and can't be removed. It is fairly low and doesn't seem to interfere with my son's seating himself. On his second successful attempt to use the potty, he was able to aim down into the bowl without any spills.
I think this potty is best for a median-age toddler. It might be too unsteady for a younger/less coordinated child. It could be too small for a large/older toddler.
