My grandson (4 1/2) will only poop in his pull-ups in his bed at nap/rest time or at night. My daughter said he was even doing it one time in his sleep!

He will pee in the potty but not poop.

Any suggestions??

Hello Grandma,

Have you tried adding fiber and water to your grandson's diet? Kid's are just like adults - They develop a pattern to their bowel movements. Adding fiber might just be enough to shift the time of day he needs to go.

Next, consider his bathroom environment. Is he comfortable sitting? Is he flat footed when he sits? Be sure he either has a stool or is using a potty chair. It is difficult for kids to relax their muscles if their feet are dangling.

If he pees standing up, ask him to pee while sitting to get him used to the feeling of being on the toilet.
