My daughter turned 2 in May and I thought that I would start potty training this summer, with thoughts of warm weather and not a lot of clothing and lots of time on my hands we could have her potty trained by the end of the summer. Well, during our first few weeks, I was not very consistent, but everyone has to learn, including myself. So one weekend, I decided to crack down hard and with the help of my husband we were going to make it happened, or at least try really hard. (Well the plan backfired and we're back to pre step one, but that's another story!) The funny part was that on Sunday morning, my daughter crawled into bed with me, as she usually does to snuggle, but this morning she was a bit more squirmy that usual. So after 5 minutes of being in the bed with me, she decided to go to her room to play. I must have fallen back asleep and when I woke up, I woke up to a strange sound. As I lied there trying to figure out where the sound was coming from, her room or my son's room, and what toy could possibly be making that noise. I heard the cover to the toilet paper holder in our bathroom, and quickly realized she was in there. I jump out of bed and into our bathroom to find her with the "cup" that holds the pee/poop in her hands and she was scooping out toilet water from the toilet and putting into the base of the potty on the floor. Her reasoning was that she was pouring out the pee. The toilet was almost empty of water. I didn't know whether to laugh, scream or reinforce the type of behavior I would have liked to have seen. But she did seem to try to take off her diaper and pants before all this but with no luck. My husband and I quickly learned to make sure all doors including our bathroom door are closed at night.
