Hello, I'm the mother of a 24 month old. My daughter tells me when she is going potty, but will not tell me before she goes. She's not afraid of the toilet though. I can't figure it out. We trained my son very easily, but it seems to be much harder with my daughter. I thought girls were supposed to be easier. Could you please give me some advise on how to fix this. |

Dear Mrs. Leonard, Thank you for your post. I understand your frustration with your daughter's situation, particularly since it was so pain-free to train your son. More times than not it seems we all think it is easier to train girls than boys. However it really all depends on the child. At 24 months your daughter may or may not be able to identify the feeling of a full bladder. She may also need a little extra time to progress further in one of the other developmental areas key to potty training. I'd suggest you take a break and try again in a month or so. Read through the potty training readiness signals, and take a look at this developmental timetable for added help in determining if she is really ready. Good luck! Narmin |
