My daughter is 3 1/2 and has been using the potty for some time but still purposefully goes in her pants at home and at school. At school she will go into the bathroom stall and wet her pants. Sometimes she'll even go get her change of clothes and then go into the bathroom and wet her pants- totally premeditated! At home she will soil her pants and then say "I don't have any pee/poop in my pants". I know my husband and I are both very frustrated but we have been trying to avoid disciplining her for her 'accidents' but it is getting really hard because I know it is obvious she is doing these things on purpose. Her pediatrician didn't know what to do and referred us to a seminar at the Children's Hospital where basically they just try to sell timer watched to remind kids to go. Any ideas? They would be greatly apprecaited. |

It sounds like your daughter might be afraid. Or maybe she is uncomfortable with the seat for chair. Try to talk to her about it. Realize it may be difficult for her to sort out and explain her feelings. Are there any situations when she will use the potty? What's different about those situations? Some children are afraid to be alone when they potty. Some want their privacy. Some want to go on the big potty while others are petrified of it. In an effort to help (as opposed to selling something) I suggest you read all about potty chairs and potty seats. Hoefully you will find some information that will help. You might also read about what to do when a child is afraid of using the potty. Good luck! Narmin |
