My son turned 3 in August and will be starting pre-school in 2 weeks. He must be potty trained to attend. He has been randomly going potty for the last few months when he felt like it. 2 weeks ago, we started pushing the issue and trying to get him to go all the time. Most of the time, he has done great with bm. We have had only a couple of accidents. However, he will not tell us when he needs to go #1. I have been trying to put him on the potty every hour. He fights this tooth and nail. Half of the time he goes and the other half he will sit there for about 10-15 minutes and tell me he doesn't have to go. Then, within 5 minutes, he will go in his underwear. I am extremely frustrated and am not sure where i need to go from here. I do feel he is ready - but likes the power he has by not going. I appreciate any advice on this subject. Thanks. |

Hello, My 3 1/2 year old son has been potty training since Dec. of last year. When we are home and he has no bottoms on he goes to the bathroom by himself and even flushes the toilet without any trouble. Our problem is when he has clothing on ( we use pull ups) he never lets me know that he has to go potty and he is always wet. It seems that he likes the pull ups and he has no intrest in underwear. I have told him that big boys use underwear but everytime I try to put underear on him he cries and refusses to wear them by pulling them off! He cries so badly and refuses to put on the underware and then tells me he wants the pull ups. I need help, what do I do? How do I get him to tell me when he needs to go potty when he has clothing on and how do i get him to wear underware not the pull up? Thanks for and advice, I need all the help I can get. |
