Hi Sarah, Thank you for your post. Yes, I suggest stopping the reminders. Your daughter is likely not getting to the point where her bladder is full enough for her to recognize the sensation or urge to go. In addition, if she knows you are going to remind her, she doesn't have to make the effort herself. Instead, I suggest you go back to the dry pants inspections used in the Potty Training in One Day method as explained in the chapter titled "The Big Day". In addition to rewarding your daughter for successfully using the potty be sure you are rewarding her for keeping her pants dry. Remember, you're working toward two desired behaviors - - using the potty and keeping her pants dry. If she does have an accident be sure you are applying the 10 practice runs referred to in the same chapter. You are applying consequences for the undesired behavior which reinforces your expectations. And finally, if these tactics don't work there's a couple of things you might want to consider. First, recheck your daughter for potty training readiness. It is possible she might not be quite ready, even if her sister is. Second, consider the method. Not every method works for every child. Sometimes the child's personality, temperment, and way of thinking just doesn't fit with the method. Consider chosing from one of the other popular potty training methods. Best of luck to you and your daughters! Please let us know how it goes. Narmin |
