I have been trying to potty train my 3yr old twin boys since they were 2 1/2. One of them is completely resistant and say that he wants his diaper and the other will sit on the potty (not consistently) and will go about 25% of the time. Is there a better way? SHould I focus on one at a time. Any advice will help.

Thanks

Thank you for your post.

Often times when our little ones are resistant or not having consistent success with potty training, they are not quite ready. Evaluate each of your son's developmental readiness for potty training as explained in our article "When Should I Start Potty Training?" You may find that they are at different levels of readiness.

At this point, I would recommend taking a break of a few weeks. During this time, consider your sons' personality type and your parenting style. Consider the various potty training methods, and select the method that most closely fits with your styles. Then begin chatting with your sons about resuming the process and go for it.

I wish you the best of luck. Please let us know how it turns out.
