I have had a horrible time with potty training my 5 year old son. In the beginning he stayed dry for 3 months and just recently he made it 3 months dry (this spell has passed). Other than that, he has had constant accidents (1-6 per day). He doesn't have full out puddles or soaked clothing, just underware that gets increasingly wet and then his pants get increasingly wet. He doesn't care that he is wet, but does care when I notice. He knows there are consequences, but doesn't seem to remember that when the urge occures. He will dance and jump around and act out when he has to go. As a rule I do not ask him to go, unless we will be going to a place where our bathroom access is limited. It kills me to watch him act like he has to go and yet he puts it off. Some days he needs to go every few hours and other days he has to go every 20 minutes. Some nights he will stay dry all night and then be wet all day the next day. I am so confused.

His teacher says he is too smart to have this problem. We have had so much change in our lives over the past 3 years (my husband lost his job, we have moved 3 times and will be again soon). I know this has to be affecting him, but I don't know how to deal with it. My 4 year old trained herself overnight at 2 1/2 (except for at nght). That was a blessing from God. I still strugle with my son. What should I do?
