I am the step mother to two beautiful 31/2 year old twins. I also have a 3 year old son of my own who is doing great with the potty. I am having problems with one of the twins, the boy, who is showing no interest in potty training. Ahden was born premature at 26 weeks. He was intubated for heart surgery which has left his vocal cords paralyzed. Obviously communication is a problem, however he DOES recognize the urge to urinate or BM. Its almost like he refuses to go. We have exhausted ouselves in teaching him when and how to go, now its like he just pees or poops whenever and wherever he feels the urge. We are using 'big boy underwear', letting him go with his father and siblings, and even rewarding him when he does go pee pee in the potty. Unfortunately he only goes on the toilet when we sit him there and tell him to go. We are getting very frustrated, and are even beginning to wonder if maybe he is developmentally behind and its too early for him to start. He can distinguish the urge, he knows he has done wrong when he dirties his underwear, he even tries to hide the fact that he has had an accident. PLEASE HELP!!!...................Mother to a rebel!
