Help!!! I have tried everything under the sun and everthing that is known to woman and man kind. I have tried rewards, breaks, time outs, putting my son in big boy underwear, plastic pants you name it I have tried it. My sweet boy who I love will be 4 years old in August and will start preschool. He has absolutely no interest in potty training. He is much more interested in playing then potty training. He doesn't care if he poops or pees himself and would sit in it for hours happily playing with his tractors. I feel like the worst mom in the world that he is not potty trained yet. He is extremely advanced in all other aspects of life. I have spoken with other moms and they all tell me he will potty train when he is ready (I am ready). I have tried talking to him, reasoning and even pleading, but to no avail. He tells me he wants to but sometimes its like talking to a brick wall. Please help me I would appreciate any help.
Sincerely, Out of my its in Osage

I know how you feel. It is now December 2009 and my son will be 4 in April and starts school in August 2010. We have tried all the rewards, targets in the toilet, watching daddy, standing in the corner when he purposely goes in his pants...everything. And we also hear that he will train when he's ready. I know you're not supposed to compare your children, but it is even more frustrating because our daughter was so easy, but that's because she couldn't stand to be wet or messy. Were you able to get any advice that helped that you could pass on to another mother at her wits end? :-)
