Our 3 1/2 year old son who is potty trained for the most part still needs to wear a diaper to bed to prevent accidents. We do encourage a sit down on the potty before naps and bedtime, but experience tells us that he won't alway make it till wakeup time. He has long resisted naps no matter how tired he is. Once a week or so, he will poop in his diaper, remove it and then smeer it all over the walls or into the carpet. He has also taken to just peeing where ever he is, inside and out. Today, he did it at my in-laws while they were watching him. Short of putting him in a straightjacket for naps, we don't know what to do. Any ideas?

It seems to me that your child is definitely ready to be potty trained if he is removing his diaper. We have several potty training books that would fit in with your parenting style. How To Potty Train your child in one day may be a very good option for you to choose from.
