I am trying to potty train this only child boy in my 2-3 year old class. He is 2 and 1/2 years old. He seems to just be about ready to try potty training on a structured basis. He will sit on the potty most of the time for 3-5 min. and is becoming more and more independent. I was just having him try two times a day with the rest of the class when I felt he wasn't quite ready and he would sometimes go in the potty. This hasn't happened for a while now. I thought maybe having him go more often now that he seems more independent would help. I don't want to push him but all of his other classmates are really close to being potty trained or already are. I don't want him to feel bad about it either way. I have noticed his penis is erect a lot of the time he comes to try on the potty. If he doesn't at first he starts to play with it and it becomes erect. I know that this is the time where he becomes more aware but I feel that he can't really relax to go in the potty. Do you have any suggestions? Is he just not ready yet? |
