We need help! It took us several attempts to get our daughter, who turned 3 in February, to a state of successful daytime dryness. This last time, we started in May (after 2 previous failed attempts) and by July, we thought we were out of the woods -- being dry 99% of time while awake (not at night and not during her nap though). Then in August, we hit trouble. It started out with an accident at a fair, then an accident during another outing. And then 2 more accidents while being babysat by her grandma. Now she's averaging 3 - 4 accidents a week!! Some are during outings, even after we have asked her if she has to go and taken her to a restroom. Others are in the middle of the living room when she has easy access to the bathroom. She was at a stage where she would go to the bathroom by herself. She does not seem at all fazed by the accidents!! We have been done with reward charts for over a month, and I don't know whether we should pull those out again? We are expecting our 2nd child in November. I feel like she needs to know we are disappointed, but yet I keep reading that we should not act like it is not a "big deal". She is in underwear during the day, pullups at night. She needs to be "potty trained" for school which starts in 3 weeks which is added pressure for me. She is very strong willed and I don't want to get into a power struggle with her. She doesn't find cleaning her messes a consequence. What can we do??? |
