I need some help, obviously. I started potty training my 26 month old son 4 days ago. We started on day 1 put on big boy underwear and put some on his favorite stuffed toy, He then taught the monkey to use the potty 3 times. He then sat on the potty. We then put him on the potty about every 30 min to an hour with no success that day. On day 2 we moved the potty into the main living area and kept with what we were doing, we played with him and read to him while on the potty so he would relax and he went 2 times in the potty and had 2 accidents. Day 3 he had 3 success and 1 accident. He started saying he needed to go but still needed help pulling down his pants (he has an injured left hand and we are working on this part) Then he woke up this morning dry, he had not gone in 12 hours and we sat on the potty for 45 min and as soon as he got up he had an accident and he has not peed on the potty since, he stopped telling me he needs to go. Everytime we sit on it he sits there and wants to play so it takes about 30 min and often with no luck. when he does go he gets a small reward. I just dont know what to do now, He stays dry for about 3 hours and then sits on the potty forever before he will go if he goes. He still has not gone number 2 on the potty yet either. I dont know what I should do, should I move the potty into the bathroom and stop playing while on the potty? Should we only let him sit for a certain amount of time? I know he can do it but where do i go from here? How do i get him to relax and go pee without sitting there forever? thanks! |
