We have been trying to potty train my 3yr old daughter on and off for over 6months. At child care they are also trying as she cannot go up to the preschool room untill she is. The thing is she is more than willing most times to sit on the toilet or potty and will even tell us she needs to go, but when she sits there she does nothing and says she doesnt need to go. Usually she will have an accident shortly after but now she just seems to hold it. At child care she would wait for her sleep nappy so they thought putting her to sleep without it would work, it didnt she stays dry now untill she gets home and will have a huge accident from not going all day. We have offered different rewards and she is really excited by stickers and she understands the concept that if she goes potty she gets stickers and yet she still doesnt go. I am concerned that there may be a bladder problem or her holding on will cause one. Also Her latest thing is that when you say she is a big girl she will say she is a baby (she still has a dummy and milk bottle which we have tried and tried to stop many times) I am now worried that she doesnt want to grow up. PLEASE HELP ME I am at a total loss |

Hi Kristy, I see that you used the word Nappy, would this be a disposable or cloth diaper? I would also like to know what kind of undergarment she is wearing. Have you tried any potty training videos that show actual children going or a wet on demand doll that demonstrates actual going? Below are some links to some products that should help in your potty training. I know the Reverting toward baby like behavior is a bit concerning to you but rest assured it is natural. Children go through boundary pushing phases where they will push the boundaries that parents set for them. When the boundary gives a little too much for them they revert back to the safety of baby like behavior. Children always grow out of the revert within a month or so and start building back up to the next phase of Boundary testing. To help you determine how to approach concerns with your child here are a couple of article that will help with determining your Parenting style and your Child's Type http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/A-Parenting-Style.html http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/A-Your-Childs-Type.html http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/CTGY/Potty-Training-Doll.html http://www.pottytrainingconcepts.com/CTGY/Potty-Training-Videos.html |
