Hi, I have two 3 year olds. One is fully potty trained (my fiance's son from a previous relationship) and my son who is not fully potty trained. I figured that having my fiance's son around would help him get the idea of going poop in the toilet, but nothing. He does go pee pee in the toilet but not all the time. Sometimes we still have to tell him to go. We've tried everything. We've tried putting him in underwear for a day. Within 30 minutes of having underwear on, he poops in them. We've tried rewarding. Everytime he goes pee or poop and tells Mommy or Daddy he has he puts a sticker on the smiley face and everytime he goes in his pull-up, a sticker comes off. When he fills the smiley face up, we get to go somewhere fun or he gets to rent a movie. Something along those lines. So far, he only has one sticker. I just had a baby in October. He's now 2 months old. Could me having another baby be the cause. Regression maybe? How do I help him if it is regression? If not, then how do I help him period. I'm going insane trying to get him to go poop in the toilet. I don't know what else to do. I know they will be starting school probably next year, and he needs to be able to go pee and poop in the toilet. The teachers can't clean his mess up everytime he goes. I'm desperate. Any help would be great! Are there any dolls (in store) like Potty Scotty, that will pee when you tell him to? I would order it online, but money is tight at the moment. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Ashleigh |

Hi Ashleigh, What method are you using? I would strongly recommend you read any general potty training books or the potty training in one day books to understand how to teach the child to use the potty. You could easily find at least one of these at the library. Also please visit our section How to Potty Train there is a lot of information and advice on how to begin potty training. If you think it is regression, we have an articles under Potty Training Regression that have lots of information and great tip/advice. |
