My husband and I are beginning the research for potty training. Our 20 month old son is not ready, but we are studying check lists and such. We have one major problem. Growing up, I was not allowed to say "poop" and "pee". To this day those words make me cringe. We always said "potty" and "BM". My husband has easily accepted "potty" but is uncomfortable with "BM". I'm not budging on "poop" or "poo-poo". Any suggestions on something we might be able to agree on?!? |

How about using #1 & #2? We used to call pee winkle. You could call poop dinkle. You could make up anything to call it as long as your childs caregivers all know what the words mean! |

Hilary, I'm not quite sure I understand why you want to continue the cycle of not using commonly accepted words for toddlers during potty training, but here are some alternatives to poop and pee: Alternative words for urine: tee-tee, pee-pee, wee-wee, Alternative words for poop: bowel movement, bm, poo, dookie, feces, dump, turd, poopy.... For both they can say they have to "go potty". |
