if I leave my son naked from the waist down he will pee and poop in the potty and the toilet like a champ! He even went in our bathroom (in our bedroom) and peed standing up and then came and got me to show me. Hooray. However, put a diaper or underwear on him and that is where the party stops. If there is material of any kind on his butt he will poop and pee in it. Any ideas on how to get tot the next level? |

I am having exactly the same problem! I can't get my son to use the toilet when he has pants on. Even if I put loose shorts on him he will still wet them. I have no idea where to go from here! |

Try character underwear if you haven't already, but take a little different approach then just putting them on. Let him pick out is favorite character ie... Thomas the Tank Engine or Spiderman. Then before you let him wear them tell him that Thomas/Spiderman doesn't like getting wet or icky. Tell him they are big boys and like to stay dry and clean, and that he is a big boy now and big boys stay dry and clean. Also reiterate that we take care of our friends and that Thomas/Spiderman are our friends.
See if this helps motivate them to keep their undies dry.
